Photos Reception for Pamela Bridgewater, September 25, 2005
Seek ye first the kingdom of God Gospel of Matthew
A RECEPTION TO HONOR AND BLESS our own Pamela Bridgewater was held after our main 11 a.m. worship service on September 25, 2005,
This was the last Sunday that Ms. Bridgewater would be with us before going to the African nation of Ghana as U.S. ambassador. Her mother, our own Mary Bridgewater, would be accompanying her her daughter to Ghana.
Ambassador Bridgewater offered brief remarks during the 11 a.m. worship service. She said that although she goes to Ghana as a representative of the United States, she also goes as someone who, on a personal level, always seeks to do whatever she can, wherever she is, to advance the "kingdom of God" through acts of love and compassion. She said that during her time there, she hopes to connect on a personal level with others in Ghana who share a similar desire.
Ambassador Bridgewater grew up in Fredericksburg. She is the granddaughter of Shiloh Old Site's previous pastor, the Rev. B.H. Hester, who served this congregation from the early 1920s through the early 1960s. Her mother, Mary Bridgewater, also a member of Shiloh Old Site, planned to accompany her daughter to Ghana and stay with her for a time.
The reception was sponsored by Shiloh Old Site's Norma Burruss Foreign Missions Ministry.
