Celebration and Challenge This Sunday morning service was a celebration of our early roots as a church, including our historical connection with the congregation that became Fredericksburg Baptist Church. It also featured a sermon from the Rev. Larry Haun, pastor of Fredericksburg Baptist Church (bottom left photo), who spoke on Micah 6:1-8, where we are told that what God requires of us is this: to do justice, to practice mercy, and to walk humbly. An excerpt from the sermon (in both audio and video formats) is available below. Scroll down for details. In introducing Rev. Haun, the Rev. Lawrence A. Davies (top left photo, standing at left) mentioned the importance of Micah Ecumenical Ministries, an alliance of seven churches in downtown Fredericksburg, including both Shiloh Old Site and Fredericksburg Baptist. Together, we seek to embody the spirit of Micah, reaching out with love and justice to all who are in need. As part of the service, Deacon Johnny P. Johnson (below right photo) described some of the early history of Shiloh Old Site. Shirley Cordell-Robinson (above left photo) welcomed our visitors, including a number of folks visiting from Fredericksburg Baptist Church. Deaconess Phyllis Hollis (upper right photo) presided, and Jim McGlone (above right photo), a member of the Fredericksburg Baptist Church choir offered a solo musical selection. Our own Senior Choir (below left photo) also provided several musical selections. Musical excerpts (in both audio and video formats) are available below. Scroll down for details. Rev. Larry Haun also presesnted two gifts from the Fredericksburg Baptist congregation to the Shiloh Old Site church. They included a new pulpit Bible (top left photo) and a painting of our building that had been created by a member of Fredericksburg Baptist Church.
