When morning dawned, the angels urged Lot, saying... "Flee for your life; do not look back or stop anywhere in the valley..." Genesis 19:15,17
OUR 11:00 A.M. SERVICE on Sunday, September 3, 2006, included a sermon by our pastor, the Rev. Lawrence A. Davies, on not looking back when God calls us to break free from old habits, old oppressions, or old forms of bondage. He said we shouldn't be like the children of Israel who had been slaves in Egypt but who, when they were journeying through the desert to the promised land, began to long for the "good food" that they'd had back in Egypt, forgetting the bondage that had kept them from reaching their full potential as children of God. Excerpts from the sermon can be heard by clicking some of the links below. Music for the service was provided by our Men's Chorus and Senior Choir. Excerpts from some of the music can be heard by clicking some of the links below. The service also included the dedication to the Lord of a young child by his parents, godparents, and grandparents. During the service, a first-time visitor who had gone through some hard times asked if he could share a song that he had written. Permission was granted, and he sang and played his guitar for the congregation. Minister Felecia Cook served as the worship leader. Deaconess Iretha Bumbrey led in a responsive reading. Communion was shared at the Lord's Table with all who wished to participate. Photos from the service are included above and farther down on this page.
