And Jesus said unto her, "Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole..." (Mark 5:34a) From the 2003 Women's Retreat Becoming a Complete Woman: A Growing Process Here are some thoughts shared at the 2003 retreat, as written and copyrighted by Stacey M. Harris:
God took a rib from Adam and created Eve. Adam said, "She shall be called woman because she came from man."
Here are a few women in the Bible that I have read about. Check this out:
There was Eve. Her name means life. She was Adam's wife. She couldn't just settle for living in paradise. She ignored God's warning. She didn't think twice. Tempted by a serpent, she ate fruit from the tree that was pleasing to her eyes, fruit she thought would make her wise. To Eve, God said, "I will greatly multiply your sorrow and conception, and in pain you shall bring forth children." Until this incident, there was no sin.
There was Sarah. Her name means princess. She was Abraham's wife. Believing she was too old to have children, Sarah gave her maid Hagar to Abraham as a second wife. Hagar had Ishmael. God later told Abraham that Sarah as well would have a son. Sarah had Isaac at about age 91. She was a strong woman, you must concur. God said, "I will bless her to be a mother of nations, and kings and peoples shall be from her."
There was Lot's wife. Before Sodom and Gomorrah were to be destroyed, she didn't listen when the angels said, "Escape for your life! Do not look behind you!" And while escaping, what did she do? She looked behind and was turned into a pillar of salt. Lot and his two daughters continued to escape. They knew then, as we know today, that it is God we exalt. This woman must have brought disgrace and shame, because she wasn't important enough for us to know her name.
There was Mary. Her name means the lady. She was the mother of Jesus Christ and Joseph's wife. This is what happened in her life: Before Mary married Joseph, she was with child. Mary was a virgin and the child she carried was of the Holy Spirit. You know some of the town's people couldn't believe it. So Joseph being a good man, didn't want his wife to be a public exhibition. So he took her away to combat others' false suspicion. An angel came to him in a dream and told him to have no fear: the first-born conceived of the Holy Spirit, a son will soon be here; you will call him Jesus--he will save his people from their sins-- and thus the story of Jesus Christ begins.
Message to Christian women: unite. In a world full of darkness, you are the light. Be happy, smile, show love and kindness everyday. Be mindful to pray. Let it be know that it's for God that you stand. Hold on to God's unchanging hand. Read your Bible daily for guidance on how to live your life: to be an obedient daughter, model sister, loving mother, and virtuous wife. It's your life the Lord will bless. So study and follow God's word. To be a complete woman, it's a growing process.
