We're one of Micah Ministries founding churches
Through Micah, we demonstrate
Christ's loveShiloh Old Site was one of a small group of Fredericksburg churches that founded Micah Ecumenical Ministries, a biblically rooted effort to reach out in the spirit of Christ to some of the neediest and most often neglected members of our community.
Today, Micah Ecumenical Ministries provides hospitality, dignity, and a network of caring and support to those who are too often forgotten or ignored. Members of Shiloh Old Site serve on Micah's board and help provide volunteer services and staffing. Shiloh Old Site also contributes financially.
Through Micah, we fulfill
the call of scriptureMicah Ecumenical Ministries seeks to fulfill the responsibilities outlined in Micah 6:8, where we are told to "do justice," "love kindness," and "walk humbly with our God."
Members of Shiloh Old Site who would like to assist our ongoing group of Micah volunteers may contact the church office to learn the best way of speaking with whomever is our current Micah coordinator. Additional volunteers are always welcome and needed. Some of our members help out on a regular, weekly basis. Others volunteer on a more occasional, periodic schedule.
Through Micah, we join hands
with othersMicah is a remarkable ecumenical effort, bringing together God's people from many different congregations.
In addition to Shiloh Old Site, the governing churches currently include Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Fredericksburg Baptist Church, Fredericksburg United Methodist Church, The Presbyterian Church of Fredericksburg, Tower of Deliverance Church, Trinity Episcopal Church, Shiloh Baptist Church (New Site), St. George's Episcopal Church, and St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church.
Through Micah, we witness
to our valuesMicah Ecumenical Ministries envisions a community in which every citizen, every business, every agency, and every government collaborates together to ensure that no neighbor goes in need of housing, work, health care, education, or a needed network of caring and support.
Because of that vision, Micah seeks to do justice by being a conscience in our community. It seeks to love kindness by fostering relationships of trust, respect, and mutual support. And through its effort, Micah and its volunteers seek to walk humbly with God.
Through Micah, we connect people
with resourcesThe staff and volunteers at Micah are skilled at connecting people with resources. Micah maintains a list of complimentary community meals offered on a regular basis by many of Fredericksburg's churches. It also offers connections to mental-health resources, a cold-weather shelter, housing resources, financial assistance, and more. The phone number at Micah is 540.479.4116.
