Audio-Video Clips Senior Citizen Day, May 16, 2004 Our annual celebration of senior citizens occurred at the 11 a.m. service on Sunday, May 16. Our Home Mission Committee invited senior citizens from throughout the area to be our honored guests at the service. Transportation was provided, and a full dinner was served afterwards. The oldest participant was believed to be Mr. Jim Brown (age 108), who can be seen in a wheelchair in the photo above, left. The Gospel Choir and the Intermediate (Youth) Choir provided the music. Mrs. Louise Lewis, who had been an active member of the Boyd's Voluteers Chorus for many years before her stroke, joined with the Gospel Choir for this special service to sing the lead part from her wheelchair on one of her old standards, "Sign Me Up for the Christian Jubilee." Although her voice isn't what it used to be, the passion of her heart and the depth of her Spirit remain strong. So the message of the song came through with as much authenticity as it ever did. Audio and video excerpts from the music, including Louise Lewis's "Sign Me Up," can be found near the bottom of this page. (Just keep scrolling down.) The Rev. Lawrence A. Davies, pastor of Shiloh Old Site, spoke on the subject, "Can Prayer Make a Difference?" His text was from 2 Kings, where King Hezekiah, who is ill and has been told that he doesn't have long to live, turns to God in prayer -- and finds that prayer changes things. Audio and video excerpts from the sermon can be found near the bottom of this page. (Just keep scrolling down.) >> Scroll to the bottom of this page for a selection of audio and video excerpts from the service, including both the sermon and the music.
