Women collectively supporting one another for healing and growth Sister to Sister Ministry
WHAT is Shiloh Old Site's Sister to Sister Ministry? The Sister to Sister Ministry at Shiloh Old Site is designed to encourage and promote healing to the heart and soul of women of God by addressing unresolved issues -- past or present -- which too often hinder their emotional growth and healthy development, keeping them from living an abundant life. WHO is Shiloh Old Site's Sister to Sister Ministry for? The Sister to Sister Ministry is for women who want to walk in the fullness and wholeness that God purposed for them. It is for women who have faced traumatic events -- whether experienced directly or indirectly -- such as divorce, abuse (physical, verbal, and emotional), incest, molestation, rape, death, abortion, bitterness, and unforgiveness, including those that took place as early as childhood. Because of such events, many women are now left with wounds which affect the way they think and behave toward themselves and toward others. The Sister to Sister Ministry at Shiloh Old Site enables such women to support one another for healing and growth. WHY Shiloh Old Site's Sister to Sister Ministry? The Sister to Sister Ministry was born because women at Shiloh Old Site desire to become whole and pleasing, not only to God but to themselves. The ministry seeks to provide a supportive and nurturing environment in which women may grow in their understanding of who they are -- without hindrance from past experiences -- thereby empowering women to experience a wholeness in their God-given roles as wives, mothers, daughters, sisters, aunts, grandmothers, nieces, cousins, and friends. The need was great, and since God commands the Church to meet the needs of its people, a provision was created to meet those needs. WHERE is Shiloh Old Site's Sister to Sister Ministry? The Sister to Sister Ministry will gather women in a supportive and structured environment housed at Shiloh Baptist Church (Old Site). As the ministry progresses, and based on the different levels of ministry, there may be occasions where alternative locations become more appropriate for the specific group(s) and/or individuals involved. WHEN and HOW is Shiloh Old Site's Sister to Sister Ministry administered? The ministry is prepared to: (1) Host periodic educational forums on such topics as those mentioned above, by drawing on the expertise of speakers from various community organizations, including offering an opportunity for questions and answers; (2) Conduct occasional small support group meetings to address struggles and/or triumphs and form bonds of supportive friendship; (3) Provide one-on-one confidential support for individuals with special needs by pairing individuals with a ministry member, deaconess, or the pastor; (4) Periodically share biblical steps toward more "abundant living"; and, (5) Maintain a confidential "PrayerNet" providing prayer, guidance, encouragement, and affirmation through the Word of God (click here to send a message or a prayer request)
