keep on marchin',

for one of these days,

we shall be free..."

(MP3 format)

Featured voices are the Senior Choir and Men's Choir of Shiloh Baptist Church (Old Site), with the Rev. Ronald Cooper singing the lead

Hallelujah! Sing to the Lord a new song, lift up praises in the congregation of the faithful.

For the Lord gives courage to the lowly, secures justice for those who are wronged, gives food to the hungry, sets prisoners free, restores sight to the blind, and makes those who are bent stand straight!

Praise the Lord, O you who dwell on earth, young and old together!

Let us praise the name of the Lord.

Selected verses from Psalms 146, 147, 148, 149

Introduction to Sunday Worship and Growth Opportunities at Shiloh Baptist Church (Old Site)

If you are looking for a detailed description of what's happening on a specific Sunday, click here.

ACCESSIBILITY

The church's wheel-chair accessible mini-bus is available on request to pick you up for Sunday services or other events. It has a wheel-chair lift for easy on-and-off access. To arrange a pick-up, please call the assigned driver. For information on who to call, click here.

In addition, all services at Shiloh Old Site are fully wheel-chair accessible. For easy access to the elevator, simply enter by the glass door to the left of the main entrance on Sophia Street.

Wheel-chair seating is available near the rear side entrance to the sanctuary as well as near the front. Please ask any of the ushers for assistance with seating, if desired.

8:00 a.m. Early Worship

This is a shorter service than our main 11 a.m. worship service. The style is what some people call "contemporary," though that in itself can be a misleading term.

Leadership for this service is provided by the Rev. Joel Nelson, one of our ministerial associates. He is assisted in a major way by the Rev. Ronald Cooper, another of our ministerial associates, who is currently doing a large share of the preaching at the early service.

Communion at the Lord's Table is offered on the first Sunday of the month.

Many folks find great value in attending both this early service as well as our more complete 11:00 a.m. service. Because the content and style of each service is different, attending both services provides a richer opportunity for spiritual growth.

The 8 a.m. service does not include selections from any of our seven regular choirs. Instead, a smaller "praise team" provides the music.

Child care for youngsters can sometimes be provided on request.

9:30 a.m. Church School

We have a lively church school with a wide range of classes for children, youth, and adults. Newcomers are always welcome. Church school is a great way of deepening your knowledge of Scripture and the ways of Jesus.

Once a quarter there's also a Church School Prayer Breakfast, usually starting at 9:00 a.m.

If you'd like a ride to our church school, call the church office earlier in the week (at 540-373-8701) to arrange for the church mini-bus to pick you up.

10:45 a.m. Devotional Service

A devotional service precedes our regular Sunday worship service, led by different individuals from week to week. It's an informal time for reading Scripture, singing, personal sharing, and prayer.

11:00 a.m. Main Sunday Morning Service

At 11 a.m. we offer a full worship experience with music by one or more of our seven choirs and a inspiring, thoughtful, biblically sensitive sermon, usually delivered by our pastor, the Rev. Lawrence A. Davies.

The style of our 11:00 a.m. service is what some people might call "traditional," though that in itself can be a misleading term.

A nursery program is available during this service for infants through first grade.

Communion is celebrated the first Sunday of each month. Baptizing is usually done after the 11:00 a.m. service on the fourth Sunday of the month.

Altar prayer is normally offered near the close of each 11 a.m. service. If you have a name that you would like included, be sure to record it on the special prayer list that is available near the front door each Sunday. (Ask one of the greeters or ushers where the sheet is located.)

In addition to regular sanctuary seating for our Sunday morning service, there's a spacious balcony, though use of the balcony requires climbing a flight of stairs.

Rides to the regular Sunday morning service are available in our church mini-bus. If you'd like a ride, please make arrangements with Deacon Thurman Brooks at 540.371.1584.

Extras

From time to time there are dinners after the 11:00 a.m. service in our lower fellowship hall. The food is good!

Also, we occasionally have Sunday afternoon or evening services, often with guest speakers, special music, or other special characteristics. Watch for announcements.
