Annual Celebration 2008 Traditional Thanksgiving Sunrise Service
6 O'CLOCK IN THE MORNING THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 27, 2008
All are welcome for our traditional 6:00 a.m. Thanksgiving morning service.
There will be congregational singing, special music of the season by a special Thanksgiving morning choir, scripture readings, prayers, and a Thanksgiving message by our guest speaker, Rev. Wayne Robinson. A light continental breakfast (including sugar-free selections) will be served immediately after the service along with with coffee, tea, and juice -- accompanied, of course, with ample opportunity for conversation and fellowship.
In years past, this early-morning service became a tradition at Shiloh Old Site as a way of providing an opportunity for those who worked on Thanksgiving Day (often in domestic service) to share in a time of thanksgiving to God for the warm blessings of our lives. We continue the tradition of an early-morning service as a way of honoring and thanking those who faithfully served the Lord in this community in the past -- and as a way of remembering and thanking those around the world who continue to labor at inconvenient times for the benefit of others, including ourselves.
