Here's a quick look at some of what we do
We gather together for worship and biblical empowerment
During our Sunday worship services, we unite our hearts in praise for God's good and continuing gifts to us through Jesus, whom we acclaim as Lord. Our greeters, our ushers ministry, our deacons and deaconesses, our pastoral staff, and our music groups help make this possible.
But our Sunday services aren't just about praise. We likewise seek to open our hearts so that we might be empowered and strengthened through prayer for one another, through engagement with scripture, through our pastor's preaching, and through the presence of God's ever-surprising Spirit.

We study together so that we might be more fruitful
as faithful and authentic children of GodStudy and growth is something else that we do, and it happens in many ways.
It happens in our church school (with classes for all ages, beginning at 9:45 a.m. each Sunday. It happens in our weekly Bible study groups (Tuesday mornings and Wednesday evenings), during our annual men's and women's retreats, during our annual vacation Bible school, in periodic forums and discussions, and in other richly rewarding programs and events.

We reach out into our community and world, planting holy seeds of love and strength and peace
Through a variety of outreach efforts, we seek to share with others the love and strength and peace that we ourselves have received from God's own hand.
Our outreach takes many forms, including regular involvement in the lives of some of the most marginalized members of our community through Micah Ecumenical Ministries, as well as support for other local efforts, including the Fredericksbug Area Sickle Cell Assocation, the Thurman Brisben Center, the Fredericksburg Area Food Bank, Rappahannock Legal Services, the Rappahannock Council on Domestic Violence, and others.
In addition, our Home Missions Ministry provides much needed support to people facing various short-term personal and financial problems. We're also active in a community "wellness coalition" that we initiated with several other local churches in order to promote and facilitate healthier life styles. Many groups within our congregation also reach out in special ways to the community.
On an international level, our Norma Burruss Foreign Mission Ministry has funded educational, health-related, and community-building efforts in a couple of different African nations.
We offer programs that help young people grow in personal character, life skills, and Christian faith
Besides church school classes for children and teens, we offer a choir for young people (10 and up) that provides special music in our worship services once a month. Young people also participate in worship services as ushers, scripture readers, prayer leaders, and in other ways. Special outings, retreats, and other activities are also scheduled for children and youth on various occasions.
In addition, we offer a full complement of scouting programs for both males and females. These scouting programs meet weekly throughout most of the year and also take camping trips and other outings together.

We bind our hearts together in Christian love, caring for and supporting each other through good times and bad
We are not just an isolated collection of believers. We are rather a gathered community that cares for and supports one another, whether times are good or times are hard.
Our lives are drawn together through times of all-church fellowship, such as our many after-church dinners, our annual "outback" picnic, recreational events, and other activities. In addition, our deacons and deaconesses keep an active eye on the needs of each member. Our "Sister to Sister" Ministry provides spiritual support for women who have experienced various kinds of emotional wounds, and our many ministry groups, choirs, clubs, and other auxiliaries promote close ties and mutual concern for one another.
It's hard to "slip through the cracks" at Shiloh Old Site.
